SEO Techniques on sites

After looking at the Off Techniques Search Engine Optimization site I will now turn my attention to examine some factors that you might like to keep in mind when you make your blog - (Onsite or technique - things you do in your blog that help build a higher ranking) . As with all SEO techniques there are a lot of this and a lot of speculation about all of them so I will talk as much as I can:
A. Keyword Rich Content - identify some keywords for your articles that you hope will get indexed by Google so. Do not take too much, but consider these questions
How I wish people found this post on Search Engine?
What would they type into Google if they want information on the topics you write about?
How do I find information about this topic at Search Engine?
What results show up when I plug those keywords into Google?
What other keywords that other sites use?
The answers to these questions will provide clues as to what words you would like to see repeated several times throughout your article. These keywords will need to be the most common words used in your article. Use it in some or all of the following ways:
Keywords in post titles and page
Keywords in the URL of the page
Keywords in the link out
Keywords in bold tags (try to do it at least once)
Keywords in title tags (there is debate about how to use them, but it's generally accepted that the h1 tag is important and that h2, h3, h4 tag etc. also have an impact. Having said that I have seen some very good page rank in search engines without using the heading tag.
Keywords in the alt image tag
Common keywords in the text of your post - especially at the beginning of the first sentence
Keywords in meta tag

2. Themed sites - One of the theories that evolved from SEO is that you are more likely to rank well if you have a large number of pages on the same theme.
3. Website Design - Search Engine as well laid out, well coded and easy to navigate website. Make sure your pages validate (I need to work more on this) and that they can be seen in all major browsers. Search engines do not tend to like the flash is too much, Frames or Java Script on your site - keep it simple and clean and their robots will index your site much faster and more accurate.
4. Interlink Your Site - How Search Engines index your blog is to send a small robot crawlers to your website to keep track of what you have written and follow the link. Make it easy for them to get around your blog by using the internal linking wisely.
5. Updated regularly - The more you update your blog more often search engine crawler will send them to your site to index it.
6. Outbound Links - There is debate about how to treat the UK outbound links from your blog. I'm in the camp that believes that relevant outbound links increase your site's ranking in search engines.
7. Choose your domain name wisely - there are many factors to keep in mind when choosing a domain name. For one, you may want to include your keywords in it if possible. Secondly you have to do a little research to see if anyone else has used the domain previously.
8. Register Your Domain for Long Period - Recent patent by Google indicates that it is now long to see your domain registration in the rankings.
9. One topic per post - the more focused the theme of a page when a better Search Engine rankings come into it. Sometimes you may find yourself writing long posts that end up covering several different topics. They may be linked loosely but if the search engine ranking is what you expect to be better to split your post into pieces smaller more focused.
10. Write a long post optimal - there are some thoughts that occurred around the community that page Search Engine Optimization is too short to get through to a high rank. I try to keep posting at least 250 words. Of course there are some posts on my blog a shorter, but if I'm writing a post that I want to rank well I try to give some meatiness in length.
11. Avoid Duplicate Content - Google warns publishers in the guidelines have the same content on multiple pages. This applies to both the number of pages that you own but also else own page. This is because the tactics spammers often to reproduce the content on many pages and / or steel content from other sites.
12. Ping - services such as Pingomatic (there are many others as well) will ping the various web sites for you to tell them that you've updated. Thus you will also let search engines know that you've updated the robot will trigger them to come visit your blog.
13. RSS to MyYahoo Submit - submit your RSS feed to MyYahoo seems to help with getting indexed in Yahoo.
14. Quantity of content - I always get in trouble when I wrote about having a lot of content - but I think it is true that the larger sites tend to rank better than smaller sites - while it is possible to rank high with a small site - it's probably not the norm. . Search engines will see your site as a more comprehensive content that you have.
15. Submit to Search Engines - You can do all of the guests the best SEO strategies in the world and still get no where because you have not found the Search Engine to begin with. Each search engine has to let her know about your site - submit your URL for inclusion in the index.
